A message from our Chief Librarian and CEO:
Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures.
As the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic swept across our community, streets were empty and our neighborhoods felt eerily quiet. Pikes Peak Library District, alongside many area organizations, closed physical locations in light of the pandemic – the longest our doors have been closed since our district was founded in 1962.
But, behind the scenes, our staff worked quickly to pivot services online to ensure residents in the Pikes Peak region could access entertainment, educational tools, and other resources to stay engaged at home. We worked tirelessly to extend online library card signups, reinstate expired cards, expand access to our eLibrary, create virtual programs, compile trusted information to assist both individuals and local businesses in navigating the pandemic, "/community">produce personal protective equipment using our makerspace equipment, provide needed technology to schools and other local service agencies, and launch curbside service.
I’m immeasurably proud of the work our staff has done, with unwavering support from our Board of Trustees, to remain accessible to you, our community of patrons. The pandemic taught PPLD, like many other organizations, that services can be provided in new and innovative ways. We look forward to a bright future of continued innovation and evaluation of our services to ensure they’re as accessible as possible, regardless of what new circumstances may come our way.
